Paul Horn Expands its Miniseries for Targeted Chip Breaking

Paul Horn GmbH, extends its 108 and 114 Mini systems, adding a new GM threading geometry suitable for turning ISO metric internal threads in partial and full profile. The chipbreaker geometry enables the production of short chips, even with long-chipping materials and those that are difficult to machine. This reduces the risk of chip build-up and prevents swarf from becoming entangled around the tool holder, thus increasing process reliability.

Targeted chip breaking also makes it easier to handle the chips. The 108 system is suitable for metric internal threads from a diameter of M10 with pitches of 0.5-1.25 mm (0.019"-0.049") and the 114 system is ideal for pitches of up to 2.5 mm (0.099"). Standard turning tool holders from the Mini system may be used and the inserts are available in partial as well as full profile design.

Among the company's key products are the mini type inserts screwed onto the face of the holder. The tool system is suitable for turning and milling applications with proven internal profiling / grooving applications. The inserts produce excellent surface finishes, even with longer throat depths and ensure high process reliability, due to the low-vibration carbide tool holders. The extensive Mini system range provides inserts in a variety of sizes for different internal diameters, as well for various geometries & substrates and CBN / diamond tips.
