Walter’s TC420 Supreme Thread Former for Better Finish

Walter AG introduced new TC420 Supreme variant, which is a thread former (M5–M16) for blind-hole threads up to < 3.5 × DN and combines for the first-time chamfer form E with axial internal coolant without lubrication grooves. The inclusion of the metric variant (M24) of the radial internal coolant for blind-hole and through-hole threads is yet another new feature designed for maximum performance in universal application which are currently at the forefront of technology. The new type of combination of chamfer form E and a geometry without lubrication grooves improves the lubrication and, at the same time, decreases torque by up to 30%, with an acceptable improvement in the tool edge life.

The users benefit from good surfaces with the new tools, in addition to extremely high cutting data and long tool lives. Furthermore, the thread formers show up to 30%  higher break-out resistance under dynamic load when compared with other procedures, which in turn increases the thread quality where workpieces are highly stressed.

The company offers the new TC420 thread formers for medium to large batch sizes with and without lubrication grooves, as well as with axial or radial internal coolant or without internal coolant, either with TiN coating (of the WW60AD grade) or in the TiCN variant (WW60BA). General mechanical engineering, the automotive and energy industries are its common fields of application.
